About Me

Charanjeet’s love of stories, novels and other reading is as old as he is. He has been an aspiring writer since his school days. After joining Brandywine Writers’ Circle (BWC) in 2014, he started to regularly publish locally and internationally. Before that he had self-published a novel, “Anna’s Canteen,” in 2012.

In 2007, Charanjeet founded a non-profit organization to stimulate and strengthen Punjabi and Indian culture in Delaware. PIND, meaning village in Punjabi, stands for Punjabis IN Delaware. Among its activities is organizing Lalkar, an intercollegiate dance competition. It features Bhangra and Bollywood Fusion dance teams from across North America.

Charanjeet founded the Delaware Sikh Awareness Coalition (DSAC) after first leading Delaware’s Sikhs in establishing two gurdwaras (Sikh houses of worship). To DSAC’s credit, the month of April over the last three years in Delaware has been proclaimed “Sikh Awareness and Appreciation Month.” DSAC is engaged in creating awareness about Sikhism because it is not well known in the U.S. despite being the world’s fifth largest stand-alone faith.

DSAC’s seva (service) and outreach initiatives include providing lunch to HOPE Dining Room clients every fourth Friday.  It hosts an interfaith Iftar dinner for fasting Muslims every year during the month of Ramadan. DSAC also regularly participates in an interfaith group—Charanjeet had joined it in 2013—that serves the homeless and needy every month at Front and Lombard in Wilmington.

To commemorate Sikhism founder Guru Nanak’s 550th birth anniversary in 2019, DSAC is working with various local faith houses for an opportunity of seva (service). For instance, it served a vegetarian lunch after tea and snacks to New Ark United Church of Christ’s congregation on June 2, 2019. DSAC also donated Indian food ands snacks to Unitarian Universalist church in Newark on June 29 when it hosted the Ethnic Cultural Heritage festival. Similarly, it is communicating and discussing with many others for seva opportunities.

DSAC is also organizing a month-long exhibition on Guru Nanak’s life and teachings in October.
